From the album Small Mistakes

Lyrics

the street lights are on
there’s nothing in the sky but the moon
i’ve landed on your shoulder
whispering some good ideas here soon
we can get into some trouble
we’ve the time and cash to burn
the weekend was for tourists
now they’re gone and it’s your turn

well the texts are flying in
and they read a little bit like poetry
is there anybody out there
that looks a bit like you and sounds like me
i’ve got triumphs to build up
you’ve got failures to live down
let’s unpack the bulk of them
and run them out of town

but let’s only make small mistakes tonight
let’s not bury all our blues in white
i don’t want to make a bunch of friends
that i will just regret
or talk a lot of shit that would just as soon forget
anything but that tonight
but that tonight

the night is turning blue
the birds are making their presence known
there are strangers in my living room
and each of them is staring at their phone
or into the middle distance
‘cause there’s nothing left to say
tomorrow’s gonna be as lousy as was yesterday

but let’s only make small mistakes tonight
let’s not bury all our blues in white
i already made a bunch of friends
that now i just regret
and i talked a lot of shit that i hope soon to forget
anything but that tonight
but that tonight
but that tonight
